Warning
  • In NSW, if you find an injured native animal you may transport it to a vet or another place where it can be cared for by a licensed carer, taking an animal into care if you are not trained is not only a risk to the animal, it is illegal.
  • Native animals see people as predators and will bite and scratch to avoid capture
  • Do not handle bats or snakes, call a wildlife group so a trained and vaccinated carer can assist
  • Pouched mammals may have young in the pouch.  If the young is attached to the teat, don't remove it; call a wildlife group for help
  • If you find a sick or orphaned animal that can be handled, please keep it in a warm, dark, quiet place and call a wildlife group for help
